Hongda provides a series of high quality ball valve seats made of virgin PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and reinforced PTFE (RPTFE). PTFE is an ideal material for ball valve seats due to its low coefficient of friction against metals, chemical inertness and general effectiveness as a sealing material.
Virgin and Reinforced PTFE valve seats mainly used in following application:
1.150lb~300lb floating/ fixed ball valve
2.Where there is a requirement for chemical and corrosion resistance
3.Long term using temperature:-100ºC~120ºC(Virgin PTFE), -100ºC~150ºC(RPTFE)
Reinforced PTFE has better resistance to wear and deformation under heat and load, better cold flow resistance, compressive strength, increased hardness, but tensile strength, impact strength, elongation at break, insulation, resistance to corrosion and non stick property decreased.
TFM® is a chemically modified PTFE that offers enhanced properties which retaining all the proved advantages of conventional PTFE. FDA grade. ideal for semi-conductor and high purity service.
Materials selection in ball valve seats according to different pressure, temperature, media, etc as below:
1.Virgin PTFE( Conventional &modified PTFE)- White color
2.Glass filled PTFE(15%,25%filler) -Gray white
3. Carbon filled PTFE- Black
4. Graphite filled PTFE- Black
5. TFM1600/TFM1700(Modified PTFE)- White
6. PCTFE- Translucent
7. PEEK- Beige
8. Nylon(PA)- White/ Yellow
9. Acetal Resin-Delrin® - Creamy white
10. UHMWPE- Semi-transparent white
11. Metal filled PTFE- Metallic
Other materials for valve seats not listed also can be done upon customer's request.
The most common fluoropolymer application is in process valves. We provide valve seats, manufactured from a wide range of materials, including PTFE and filled PTFE, Modified PTFE, PCTFE, PEEK and filled PEEK materials, UHMWPE...
Hot materials used for Valve Seats
Material Name | Main Properties | Notes | Temperature Range |
VIRGIN PTFE | Very low coefficient of friction and excellent chemical resistance. | FDA approved | -40°C to 260°C |
15% Glass Filled PTFE | Decreased compressive strength and lower deformation under load than virgin PTFE. | Abrasive material | -40°C to 260°C |
Modified PTFE TFM | Much denser polymer structure than Virgin PTFE. Displays better stress recovery. | Modified TFE Polymer | -40°C to 260°C |
Carbon Graphite filled TFM | Lower thermal expansion-contraction rate than conventional TFM. | Ideal for use on steam and thermal fluid applications | -40°C to 260°C and even300°C on Thermal Fluid applications |
PCTFE | Excellent for cryogenic and Oxygen use. | A homo-polymer of Chlorotrifluoroethylene | -240°C to 120°C |
UHMWPE | Highly resistant to corrosive chemicals, with the exception of oxidising acids and organic solvents. | Also known as High Modulus Polyethylene (HMPE) or High Performance Polyethylene (HPPE) | -40°C to +80°C |
Virgin PEEK 450G | Excellent chemical resistance and mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. | An organic polymer thermoplastic | -40°C to 260°C |
Carbon Filled PEEK | Many similar properties to Virgin PEEK. Particularly suitable for elevated temperatures and high load situations. | Low coefficient of friction and suitable for many extremely corrosive applications | -40°C to 260°C |
Acetal and Delrin | Displays good resistance to wear and deformation under load. | Excellent for valve seat applications | up to 80°C |
