PCTFE (polychlorotrifluoroethylene) gaskets are chosen for Ultra-High Pressure (UHP) cylinder connections due to their unique combination of material properties, which make them ideal for extreme-pressure and chemically aggressive environments. Here's a breakdown of the key reasons:

1. Exceptional Chemical Resistance

  • PCTFE is highly resistant to corrosive chemicals, including strong acids, bases, oxidizers, and solvents.

  • This is critical for UHP systems (e.g., gas cylinders storing chlorine, hydrogen fluoride, or oxygen), where leaks or material degradation could lead to catastrophic failures.
